Dr Kirkwood is leaving King Street Surgery on the 31st May 2024 after 28 years dedicated Service.

It has been a pleasure to work with Dr Kirkwood and she will be greatly missed by both the King Street Surgery team and patients alike. Thank you for all your hard work over the years and we wish you well on your new adventure.

Telephone Triage and appointments

Out of Hours and Emergencies

111 is the NHS non-emergency number. It’s fast, easy and free. Call NHS24 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you.

NHS24 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999

We provide same day telephone triage consultations with a GP from 8.00am. Your appointment may be with a GP or with a Triage Practice Nurse. Routine pre-bookable appointments with a named GP can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

Smears

How to make an appointment for your cervical smear test

All women aged 25-64 across Scotland are invited to have a cervical screening test every 3 years from age 25-49 and every 5 years from age 50-64. Once you have received your invitation letter, please make an appointment with our Practice Nurse.

Travel Vaccines

The Practice no longer offers travel vaccines

To book travel vaccines please use the link below or call 0800 917 6115.

If you cannot access the “FitForTravel” website, you will be able to call the NHS Inform helpline number at: 0800 22 44 88 where call handlers will be available to talk you through the process over the telephone.

Our catchment area is PA1, PA2, PA3 1**, PA3 2** and PA3 4**. You can download a form, fully complete it then email it to the practice at: ggc.gp87490clinical@nhs.scot

No enquiries to the practice should be made using this email address, it should only be used to send registration forms.

District and Community Nursing Team

Accessing District and Community Nurse Team

District Nursing Team & Community Treatment Rooms

The practice works closely with the district nursing team who give nursing care to patients in their homes, particularly frail and elderly patients. Community Treatments Rooms for B12 injections, stitch/clip/staples removal and dressings are available at various sites in Renfrewshire.

Contact the Single Point of Access for both District Nursing & Community Treatment rooms on 0141 207 7760, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Translation Services

If You require a translator

This practice offers a translator service for those patients who do not have English as their first language. When arranging an appointment please inform the receptionist you require an interpreter and she will be arrange this for you.

For people who are not of hearing, the practice can arrange for a recognised sign language interpreter to come to the practice. When arranging an appointment please inform reception or the Practice Manager who will arrange this service for you.

It is important for patients to let us know of any communication services required prior to appointment to ensure a high quality standard of care can be provided.

Chronic Disease Management

Regular monitoring, by blood and urine tests, for patients on a range of drugs for arthritis etc.

Annual comprehensive reviews for patients with heart disease.

Annual comprehensive review for patients with diabetes.

COPD Assessment form

If you are invited to a COPD annual review clinic please complete attached COPD Assessment form. Only complete this form if you have been invited to arrange an appointment. If you are unable to complete the form online then you may pick one up at reception to complete at your appointment.

Once the form has been completed please bring your completed form with you to your appointment.

Health Visitor

Our Health Visitor team based at Ferguslie Clinic Tannahill Centre are involved in the health care of our children. They ensure children are reaching their developmental milestones at the correct times.

We Are With You Community Link Worker

The Community Link Worker is here to help patients improve their health and wellbeing by supporting them through life events that affect us all, such as loss and bereavement, loneliness, relationship problems, feeling low or stressed, unemployment and money worries.

Our Community Link Worker can help you by listening, coming up with ideas, and linking you to the right people. You can connect to your Link Worker here at the surgery by speaking to your GP or any staff member. The Community Link Worker can help any registered patient over the age of 16 years.

Recycling: What to do with your inhalers

Inhalers shouldn't be thrown in the bin. When inhalers end up in landfill, environment-harming residual gas from canisters is released into the atmosphere.
